Research and Design
The three things I created on the laser had vastly different research and design phases, with the bottle needing almost none and the Tie Defender taking a lot.
To start off my bottle I chose the Loyola Chicago basketball team, which was one of the best stories in the NCAA tournament at the time, they also get bonus points for being in Chicago. I wanted to keep my design simple so I chose a Loyola logo and some wording beneath it with 2 bands going around the entirety of the bottle. I selected a Loyola logo off google and put it into illustrator, then chose a font I thought fit with the logo. It was a very simple process because we had done similar things for other projects. I still needed to know how long I should make my 2 bands, so I used some dial calipers to measure the diameter of the bottle then found the circumference.
To begin my notebook cover design I found the logos of the two teams I thought most likely to win the NCAA tournament, a recurring theme, and found their logos online. I used a similar process to my water bottle to add the logos. I still needed another cover so I decided to put a whole bracket on, so I found an empty 64 team bracket online and added it. I then put the logo of Virginia in the center because they were my pick to win (They became the first #1 seed ever to lose to a #16 seed).
My third laser mini project, the 3d model, had an entirely different process. To start it, I opened the file sharing website called thingiverse.com, and started to look for someone else's project to make. I didn't like most of them but a TIE Defender from Star Wars caught my eye, so I chose it. I simply downloaded the file and put it into Illustrator.
